Filling the Glass
To fill the glass,
said he, while
a daily task, takes a humble
mind
your hand must first
travel through empty space and time
just to land on the
cupboard, filled with
glimmering,
glinting,
glass.
some with remnants of the past
stained
from water.
You have to get past
the glimmer, he remarked,
and trust your hand to grab the cleanest
kind, to the hold
the glass
and seize it
You have to fill
the glass, he emphasized,
half way will suffice,
but try to avoid the half
empty side
He sighed,
but you now must drink it
